About US
The Yale Law School Chapter of the
American Constitution Society is a
national leader in the movement to ensure that the fundamental principles of
human dignity, individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access
to justice are in their rightful, central place in American law. The
Chapter fosters debate on campus by hosting a wide variety of speakers from
academia and from the public and private sectors. The Chapter also
supports its members by providing them with tools for excelling both in law
school and in their legal careers.
In 2005, the Chapter hosted a national conference in New Haven on "The
Constitution in 2020." More than 400 lawyers, scholars, policymakers
and students attended the three-day event which addressed issues of social
and economic inequality, America's place in the world, the new law of
politics, and liberties and communities. Details of the conference are
available at our blog. The
conference was part of the launch of a national initiative on The
Constitution in the 21st Century, currently underway at the direction of the
ACS national organization.
